Dec. 17, 2025 – Greenland Pines Elementary has officially become the 11th Duval County Public School to earn Blue Zones School Approval, following the Duval County District Worksite Office and bringing the total to 12 Duval County sites recognized.

Thanks to the dedication of Wellness Ambassador and PE Teacher Charles Schoonmaker, along with the strong leadership of Principal Michelle Hinkley, the school partnered closely with Blue Zones Project Jacksonville to implement meaningful, health-focused changes.

Their commitment to creating a supportive, active, and wellness-driven environment has helped make Greenland Pines a model for healthy living and community engagement within DCPS. To see the celebration ceremony, Click here.
