May 28, 2026 – As Team Duval continues its work in right-sizing the district, several school communities will experience changes in the 2026–27 school year. This includes school consolidations, boundary adjustments, and both temporary and permanent relocations.
Here’s what families can expect next school year:
School Consolidations
Don Brewer Elementary will close, with students consolidating into Merrill Road Elementary.
George Washington Carver Elementary will close, with students consolidating into Rufus E. Payne Elementary.
Hyde Grove Elementary School will close. Students will be rezoned to either Hyde Park Elementary or Ramona Boulevard Elementary.
Hidden Oaks Elementary School will close. Students will be rezoned to either Cedar Hills Elementary or Jacksonville Heights Elementary.

School Boundary Changes
John E. Ford PreK-8 will transition to a dedicated magnet school. Neighborhood students not currently enrolled in John E. Ford have been rezoned for either S.P. Livingston or Andrew Robinson Elementary School.

Temporary Relocation
Venetia Elementary students and staff will be temporarily relocated to the former Hyde Grove Elementary campus as they await a new school building, scheduled to open August 2028.
Permanent Relocation
GRASP Academy will permanently relocate to the former Don Brewer Elementary School.
School leaders at each of these schools have been sharing updates with their families and remain the best source of information for families with questions. Visit our Duval Reimagine Plan webpage to learn more about the district’s comprehensive facilities plan.
