August 11, 2026 - As students return from summer break, Duval County Public School Police are hard at work preparing for a safe and successful school year. A key part of that preparation is ongoing training with the department's K9 unit, whose highly skilled teams play an important role in supporting school safety across the district.

The district's police dogs are trained to detect narcotics or firearms, track missing students, and help locate critical evidence when needed. Throughout the summer, officers and their K9 partners participate in regular training exercises to sharpen their skills and ensure they are ready to respond to any situation.
