Oct. 22, 2026 – Connecting communities. Empowering schools. Elevating every student. This is the heart behind the district’s revamped Family Engagement Leaders Program, which is now accepting applicants for its first official cohort. Formerly known as the Parent Leader program, the initiative has been refreshed to strengthen connections between families, schools, and district leaders.

“Strong leadership in family engagement means meeting families where they are and creating spaces where every voice contributes to student success,” said Family Engagement and Communications Specialist Christina Perez.

The Family Engagement Leaders program is an opportunity for passionate parents, caregivers, and current or former educators to play a larger role in supporting students, families, and the success of Duval County Public Schools. Family Engagement Leaders will serve as community advocates and a bridge between district leadership and school communities.

Family Engagement Leader responsibilities include:

  • Sharing information: Help families and community members better understand district initiatives, resources, events, and important updates.

  • Providing feedback: Share ground-level perspectives with district leaders on communications, initiatives, policies, and other topics that affect families.

  • Building connections: Help connect families with district and community resources and services.

  • Strengthening partnerships: Engage with neighborhood groups, PTAs/SACs, faith-based organizations, and other community networks.

“Connected families build stronger schools; stronger schools build thriving communities,” said Perez.

Those interested in serving as Family Engagement Leaders will be required to meet specific criteria, such as completing a Level 2 district background screening, submitting a personal statement, and obtaining a letter of recommendation.

Applications are open now through Nov. 15, 2026. Learn more about the program, review the requirements, and apply at https://dcps.questionpro.com/FamilyLeader2026.
