A Parent Champion is a volunteer parent or guardian designated by each school's principal to serve as a support to their respective schools within the areas of improving academic achievement and increasing school enrollment.

Team Duval celebrates historic A-rating and dramatic increases in school grades

Earning an A for the first time in its history – and with more than 99% of schools attaining a grade of A, B, or C – Team Duval is celebrating a transformative year of academic achievement, marked by unprecedented school improvement across the district. At the core of this success is a clear message: Duval Delivers.

Updated volunteer background screening policy enhances student safety

Team Duval can accelerate Duval County Public Schools is strengthening its commitment to student safety by updating its volunteer background screening policy. Approved by the School Board, the revised Board Policy 9.63 brings the district into alignment with state law and introduces stricter background checks for volunteers who serve in chaperone roles or other roles that may or may not be in direct view of district employees.

‘You celebrate them!’ Three Team Duval principals share strategies behind improved school attendance

At a time when district leaders continue to stress the importance of regular attendance, many Team Duval schools are exceeding expectations.  

Thanks to the successful implementation of key interventions and strategies, several schools experienced significant growth in school attendance during the 2024-25 school year, with some posting percentage point increases in the double digits.

End of pandemic-related funding prompts changes in lunch service at several schools beginning in 2025-26 school year

Beginning next school year, there will be 37 schools that will no longer be providing free lunch meals through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Rather, families of students enrolled in these schools will need to complete a free or reduced-price meal application or be Directly Certified by the State to receive assistance with meals..
