School Social Work
DCPS Social Workers assist families towards the goal of improving students’ social, emotional, and academic well-being, fostering healthy development of the whole child.
Each SSW is assigned to a variety of schools to offer an array of services to address the needs of all students. Services include, but not limited to:
Home Visits
Agency Referrals
Attendance Support
Psycho-social evaluations, including adaptive assessments
Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
Multidisciplinary Consultations
Child Abuse Awareness, Prevention and Reporting
Crisis Intervention and Response Services
Community trainings in Parent Academy and Youth Mental Health First Aid
Interventions and Accommodations for students
Establish connection to school and community resources
Implementation of District Programs and Initiatives
Short term individual/group counseling
