
The Office of Equity and Inclusion/Professional Standards (OEI/PS) reviews requests for reasonable accommodation under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, as amended) from qualified applicants and employees. To request accommodation due to disability, please complete an ADA Accommodation Request Form. Our office will follow up with the employee if additional documentation is needed.
An interactive meeting will be held to determine whether the requested accommodation is reasonable, and if any alternatives may be needed. This meeting will include the employee, their supervisor, and OEI/PS. Determinations are made on a case-by-case basis and are subject to review and adjustment. Considerations will be given to the individual’s functional limitations, the essential job functions of their position, and whether the requested accommodation would present an administrative or financial burden. A written determination will be mailed and emailed to the employee and their supervisor following the meeting.
OEI/PS will contact the employee at the beginning of each school year to assess whether the current accommodation is still effective or changes need to be made. Whether additional documentation is needed to continue the accommodation is determined on a case-by-case basis. Meetings to update or adjust accommodations may be requested at any time by the employee, their representative, the supervisor, or OEI/PS.
