Jan. 13, 2026 – Boundary changes are being considered for 12 elementary schools in the Southside and Arlington areas, and the community is invited to take part in the discussion by joining the first of several meetings this Thursday, Jan. 15.

The discussions involve proposals that would not go into effect until after the conclusion of the 2026-27 school year.

The Meeting
The public meeting will take place Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6 PM at the Schultz Center, located at 4019 Boulevard Center Drive.

This session will include both a community meeting and an ACE (Academic and Community Excellence) working meeting. The ACE process brings together a group of engaged stakeholders to review data, history, and facts related to a proposal and to help develop recommendations for the superintendent.

These meetings give stakeholders an opportunity to review district proposals and share their input. After this process is complete, a final recommendation will be presented to the superintendent for consideration. The superintendent will then present a recommendation to the School Board. Only the School Board has the authority to approve boundary changes, which means no decisions are final until the Board takes action.

The Background
As part of the district’s Master Facility Plan, two brand-new elementary schools — Hogan-Spring Glen and Spring Park — are scheduled to open in August 2027.

The district’s initial plan called for these new schools to serve students currently zoned for Hogan-Spring Glen, Spring Park, Love Grove, and Englewood. Under that plan, when the new campuses opened, the four existing buildings would close, and students would be reassigned to either the new Hogan-Spring Glen or the new Spring Park.

That remains the core plan.

However, district leaders are also exploring possible boundary adjustments for nearby schools to ensure balanced enrollment and optimal use of facilities across the area.

The Schools
The 12 elementary schools involved in the boundary discussion are:

  • Arlington

  • Englewood Elementary

  • Greenfield

  • Hendricks Avenue

  • Hogan–Spring Glen

  • Holiday Hill

  • Love Grove

  • San Jose

  • Southside Estates

  • Spring Park

  • Twin Lakes

  • Woodland Acres

What Happens Next?
Thursday’s meeting is the first of four scheduled sessions. Additional ACE meetings will be held on Jan. 22 and Jan. 29, and Feb. 5. Both meetings are also open to the public.

The district will continue to keep families and school communities informed throughout the process.
