Oct. 14, 2026 – Recent weeks have brought exciting progress across Team Duval, as students, staff, community partners, and district leaders gathered to celebrate the opening of a new automotive lab at Terry Parker High School, a groundbreaking for a classroom addition at Loretto Elementary School, and the groundbreaking of the new Spring Park Elementary School.

Spring Park Elementary School is scheduled to open in August 2027, while the addition at Loretto Elementary School is expected to be completed in 2028.

How These Projects are Funded

The projects at Loretto Elementary and Spring Park Elementary are funded through the voter-approved half-cent sales tax. Since its passage in November 2020, the half-cent sales tax has supported the completion of five new schools: Rutledge Pearson Elementary, Highlands Estates Academy, Chaffee Trail Middle, Southside Estates Elementary, and Ribault High School. It has also funded campus expansions, facility upgrades, and safety improvements across the district.

The Terry Parker automotive lab was funded through Florida’s Capitalization Incentive Funding (CAP) Grant program, which supports career and technical education projects that help prepare students for high-demand careers. State-funded CAP grants have also supported career and technical education projects, including a new agricultural facility at Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology.
