Update - Incident on Thursday, Aug. 20

Dear Crown Point Elementary Families,

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we safely evacuated all students and staff this morning. Please see the important updates below.

Plan for the Remainder of Today
Students and staff will remain safely at Mandarin Middle School for the remainder of the day while building inspections are completed and any necessary repairs are made at Crown Point Elementary.

Student Pick-Up
If families want to pick up their child before normal dismissal time, they may do so. Otherwise, students will be dismissed from Mandarin Middle School at their normal dismissal time.

For student pick up, please enter Mandarin Middle School through the side entrance by the bus loop. We ask that families use the PikMyKid app to help ensure a safe and efficient reunification process. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to reunite students with their families.

What Occurred today
We are continuing to investigate this morning’s incident. Based on the preliminary investigation, there was no fire. A malfunction involving an air handler generated smoke, which spread into four classrooms.

We will provide additional information as it becomes available. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
