The DCSoMA 2026 Townhall Meeting and Symposium serves as the intellectual capstone of the week, a multifaceted medical forum designed to cultivate meaningful dialogue between healthcare professionals, scholars, educators, and future practitioners. This signature event reflects Darnell Cookman School of the Medical Arts’ commitment to preparing students for impactful careers in medicine and health sciences through authentic engagement with industry leaders and academic experts.

As a half-day, multidisciplinary conference, the Symposium connects students with professionals representing healthcare, public policy, higher education, and clinical practice. Through structured discussions, panel conversations, and interactive learning experiences, participants gain insight into the evolving landscape of healthcare and the diverse pathways available within the field.

The Symposium is intentionally designed to encourage collaboration, mentorship, and critical thinking while exposing students to emerging issues shaping the future of healthcare delivery and medical education. By bridging classroom learning with real-world perspectives, the event empowers students to explore career possibilities, understand professional expectations, and develop a deeper awareness of the responsibilities and opportunities within modern healthcare systems.

Ultimately, the DCSoMA Townhall Meeting and Symposium strengthens the connection between education and practice, inspiring students to move from aspiration to action as future leaders in healthcare.

Black History Month Performing Arts Showcase

This year’s Black History Month performance is a vibrant celebration of Black culture, creativity, and resilience. Our students bring the stage to life through an inspiring blend of singing, dance, step, poetry, monologues, and live guitar performances. Each piece honors the legacy of Black history while showcasing the power of the performing arts to unite, educate, and uplift our community.

From rhythmic step dance to soulful songs, from spoken-word to dramatic monologues, this showcase highlights the talent and passion of our young artists as they pay tribute to the past, empower the present, and inspire the future.
