Who Should I Call First?

If you have questions or concerns related to Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services, Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) has provided guidance below for seeking support. This guidance ensures concerns are addressed at the appropriate level, providing a structured approach to resolving ESE-related matters.

Flow chart for communication

Steps 1 through 3: Most questions can be quickly addressed by the staff at your child's school. Start by contacting your child's teacher(s), ESE case manager or ESE contact, therapist, or the ESE Lead/ FRVE/ Site Coach. You can also reach out to the Assistant Principal or Principal for assistance.

Step 4: If further support is needed and you have questions or concerns that your child's school has not been able to address, please contact the EE/SS supervisor designated for your child's school.

Step 5: If additional support is needed, please reach out to the ESE Director then the ESE Executive Director.

Step 6: For unresolved concerns, reach out to the district Region Superintendent.

Remember, no matter where you are in the process, your ESE Parent Liaison is available to help!

FDLRS is funded by the Florida Department of Education, Division of Public Schools, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services, through federal assistance under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B and State General Revenue funds.
