Severe Weather Dismissal Plan
Throughout the year we may encounter severe weather (tornado warning and lightning.) As a precaution, we monitor weather via the weather channel, internet and district bulletins. We ask that every parent discuss a severe weather contingency plan with their students. We will use the following procedures during severe storms to maintain student safety:
At 4:15 p.m., students who usually walk to school or ride bicycles will be monitored in the cafeteria until weather permits them to leave safely. We can only release students for pick-up to persons listed on the blue cards. If you want to designate someone to pick up your child during severe weather, please be sure that person is listed on the blue card.
At 4:15 p.m. car riders will be monitored in the cafeteria. Students may contact their parents by asking permission to use personal cell phones or by using the school phone in the cafeteria. Parents will need to come into the cafeteria to pick up their students.
If weather permits, bus students will be dismissed by groups and walk under the covered walkways to the bus zone. If weather does not permit, students will be monitored in designated areas.
