
What is SAC?
A School Advisory Council is an elected committee made up of parents, staff, administrators, businesses, community members, and students (in secondary schools) who work together to help a school improve. By state law, school boards must establish an advisory council for each school.
What does the SAC do?
Provide Public Voice
Post notice of meetings (date, time, place, and topies) and prepare minutes of the meeting (Follow Sunshine Lam)Develop Initiatives
Initiate activities or programs that generate greater cooperation between the community and the school.Provide Recommendations
Recommend various support services and resources.Vote on SRF and SIF
Vote on how the school should spend. School Recognition Funds (1 applicable) fee the following school year, Vote on School improvement funds (if available)Adopt By-laws
Each school advisory council shall adopt bylaws establishing procedures.School Improvement Plan (SIP)
Assist in the preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan (SIP).
