The Julia Landon chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recognizes 8th-grade students who demonstrate a commitment to academic achievement, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.

Through service projects and school involvement, NJHS members put these five pillars into action while supporting both the Landon community and the greater Jacksonville community.

Membership in Julia Landon's NJHS chapter is by invitation for eligible 8th-grade students.

Students considered for membership are asked to complete an application process that includes an essay and consideration of their academic record. Following induction, members are expected to maintain the chapter's academic standards and complete required service hours throughout their membership.

Each January, Landon's NJHS participates in the Souper Bowl of Caring, a service initiative focused on tackling hunger and food insecurity.

NJHS members research local organizations and select a food bank to support through a schoolwide collection of nonperishable food. The project takes place during January, an especially challenging time for organizations working to address food insecurity.

Last year, Landon's NJHS selected the food pantry at FSCJ, which provides food assistance to college students experiencing hunger and food insecurity.
