JWJ's Full Time Gifted Program
What do Gifted Services look like at JWJ?
Florida defines gifted students as students who have superior intellectual development and are capable of high performance. Each school district serves gifted students through local plans that provide academic and social emotional support.
According to the Davidson Institute: At a basic level, children are classified as gifted if they demonstrate a high degree of intellectual ability(ies). Typically, identification can be done through a combination of gifted tests and assessments. Because the federal government does not mandate gifted programs in schools, the criteria for giftedness depends on which state you live in, which school district you are in, etc.
JWJ College Prep provides gifted services in "gifted cluster grouping" which means the majority of a gifted student's core class is comprised of other gifted students. There may be a "sprinkling" of high-fliers should the class capacity allow.
JWJ has a full gifted track of core teachers at each grade level.
