Cosmetology Academy Welcomes Local Media Personality for Salon Experience

On October 21, 2026, the Cosmetology Academy at Asa Philip Randolph Career Academies had the pleasure of welcoming local media personality Ms. Jordan Wilkerson as a salon client while she prepared for an upcoming glamping festival getaway.

Earlier this year, Ms. Wilkerson visited APR Career Academies to spotlight two of our outstanding educators, Mrs. Toya Alston and Ms. Regina Thaxton, as part of a Teacher of the Week feature. During her visit, she was impressed by the professionalism, talent, and welcoming atmosphere created by our students and staff, and expressed interest in returning to experience the academy salon firsthand.

After reaching out to inquire about braid services, Ms. Wilkerson was paired with student stylist C. Pierre-Louis. Following a successful appointment on October 21, she praised the quality of service, attention to detail, and professionalism demonstrated throughout her visit.

Ms. Wilkerson thoroughly enjoyed the experience and shared her interest in returning for future services. She also expressed enthusiasm about recommending the salon to others and concluded her visit by thanking and tipping her student stylist for a job exceptionally well done.

This memorable experience highlights the real-world learning opportunities available through the academies at Asa Philip Randolph Career Academies. Experiences like this allow students to refine their technical skills, build confidence, and develop the professionalism necessary for success in today's beauty and wellness industry.

At APR, students don't just learn their craft, they practice it with real clients, real expectations, and real-world results.
