Mission
Our mission is to provide excellence in Computer Science education for every student, every day. We provide rigorous content in the area of Computer Science and IT. The students will receive a solid foundation from which to build upon in their future studies. They will have opportunities to take various AP, IB and Industry Certification Exams in the area of Computer Science. These experiences will not only prepare them for future studies, but will also prepare them for future endeavors in the field.
Courses
AIT – Advanced Information Technology
The content includes practical experience in computer programming, algorithms, program design structure, logical thinking, development methodologies, essential programming techniques, and implementation issues.
Foundations of Programming
This course is an introduction to programming using the Python language.
AP Computer Science Principles
This course is an introduction to programming using the Java language and includes an AP exam.
AP Computer Science A
This course is an advanced exploration of the Java language and includes AP and IB SL exams.
Advisory Board
The advisory board members currently include an administrator, a guidance counselor, a business partner, 3 teachers, 2 parents and 2 students. The purpose of this group is to plan and organize activities and to provide direction for our career academy.
Business Partner
CSX has graciously teamed up with us as our business partner. They are currently assisting us with competition opportunities as well as setting up a virtual field trip for us to join one of their team meetings. They are also providing their expertise in the field of Computer Science to advise us about the industry.
Activities
We will have guest speakers in the field of Computer Science. We will participate in a hackathon competition. We will participate in a virtual field trip and in a community service project.
