Magnet Lottery for Stanton’s Honors Program for the Gifted and Talented
Stanton provides a highly advanced program for students in grades nine through twelve. Special curriculum options include Honors courses, Advanced Placement courses, dual enrollment, and a two-year foreign language requirement. Stanton’s high achievement levels are evidenced by college admissions tests, Advanced Placement scores, National Merit semifinalists, National Achievement semifinalists, and Hispanic and Commended Scholars. Although Stanton’s mission is academic, excellence is pursued in every area including athletics, aesthetics, and technology.
For the Honors Program, students enroll in Stanton though the magnet lottery. All students currently enrolled in a Duval County Public School through grade ten receive a pre-printed application in the mail in January – those applications must be submitted between January and March each year. Applicants are notified of assignments in April. Magnet assignments are made by lottery, although every effort is made to place applicants in their first choice school. For more information see the magnet programs site.
