Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, we would like to share important information regarding our district's Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) allocation process and its impact on student enrollment and class sizes.
Based on our current enrollment data, student enrollment has increased beyond our projected numbers in several grade levels. As a result, Grades 1, 2, 4, and 5 are currently exceeding the state/district's class size requirements. District guidelines establish a class size of 18 students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 and 22 students in Grades 4 through 8.
To ensure compliance with class size requirements and to best meet the academic needs of our students, additional teaching positions and classroom sections have been allocated to our school. We are actively working to fill these vacancies and are excited about the opportunities this will provide for our students and staff.
The addition of these classrooms will allow us to balance student enrollment across classes and create smaller learning environments. The newly created classrooms in 1st and 2nd grades will follow a self-contained instruction model. Smaller class sizes allow teachers to provide more individualized attention, increased opportunities for student participation, and more personalized instruction that supports student achievement.
As we finalize staffing and student placements, some students in Grades 1, 2, 4, and 5 may be reassigned to a different classroom. To provide families with adequate notice, parents of students affected by a class change will be contacted no later than Thursday, August 27, 2026. All class rosters will be balanced and finalized by Friday, August 28, 2026.
We understand that classroom changes can be an adjustment, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to create the best possible learning environment for all students. These decisions are made carefully and with the goal of ensuring equitable class sizes and optimal instructional opportunities throughout our school.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - The countdown is on — just ONE month until the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 10. Take small steps now to get ready: Adjust sleep schedules a little each week, gather school supplies and organize backpacks, keep learning going with 20 minutes of reading or math each day, mark important school dates on your family calendar, and start practicing morning routines. We can't wait to welcome everyone back for another amazing year!

REGISTER FOR A BUS TODAY - Bus registration for the 2026–2027 school year is now open. All students who plan to ride a school bus next year must be registered in advance, including students enrolled in self-contained ESE programs. Families are encouraged to register as early as possible to help ensure a smooth start to the school year. Registration forms are available in Focus.
