William M. Raines High School has an athletic department filled with pride and tradition.  From it’s opening days in 1965, Raines has excelled on the gridiron, court, and track.  Raines' athletic teams have claimed 13 FHSAA state titles in 4 sports, beginning with Boys Track & Field in 1976.  Since then, Viking prowess has developed in football, boys basketball, and girls track.  In 1997, Raines was the first public Duval County high school to earn an FHSAA football state championship. In 2018, Raines was the first public Duval County high school to earn back-to-back state football championships.

Raines High School is a member of the Gateway Conference (Countywide) and Florida High School Athletic Association - FHSAA (Statewide).
