  • A Message from the Principal:

    Hi TJ Family!
I hope you have had a safe and productive week. In case you were unaware, the PTA published a slideshow of faculty, staff, and PTA expressing beautiful sentiments to our students. The slideshow is displayed on the PTA Facebook page and also on Thomas Jefferson's webpage at duvalschools.org/tjefferson. The presentation is called, "We Miss Our TJ Tigers!".
We are going into Week 3 of Duval HomeRoom. Thank you all for staying in contact with your teachers and for supporting your children in completing the online activities. If you have difficulties understanding or submitting assignments, please contact the teacher. Some teachers have posted instructional videos and other directions after realizing that students and parents were having technical difficulties.
This is a reminder that the second round of packets will be distributed starting tomorrow, but this is the last round of packets. I strongly encourage everyone who is still in need of a computer to call the district's Help Desk at 348-5200. After this second packet, all students will be expected to work online.
All students who worked on packets the first two weeks should send pictures of their completed work to their teachers no later than tomorrow. If they do not have pictures, they should contact their teachers by tomorrow to determine how to relay their answers. As a last resort, parents may bring the packet to a box outside the school, but it will not be graded as quickly as sending the answers to the teacher electronically.
Lastly, this is a reminder that the third quarter ends Wednesday, April 8th. Please know that the efforts of students who are present every day and working will be taken into consideration. If you have any concerns, feel free to communicate with your teacher. Friday, April 10th, is our Spring Holiday, so there will be no school that day. Have a wonderful four-day week!

  • 5 Things About Home Based Learning

    Hi TJ Parents!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we enter this new era of home based learning. I know you have many questions, and we will answer all of them over the next few days. Here are five things you should know now.

Number One - This is a brand new experience for everyone.  Patience and flexibility will be our highest values as we get used to new routines.

Number Two - You should begin your new routine next Monday by going to the new Duval Homeroom website. This new website will be up by Sunday evening.  Once that website is up, you will find everything you need to become oriented to this new home-based program. You’ll access that website from our existing home page.

Number Three - We are here to assist you. Unless otherwise told, our virtual school hours, beginning Monday, will be 8:30-3:00. Again, our virtual school hours are 8:30-3:00.

Number Four - Please know that many of the online platforms your children will be using are ones with which they are already familiar. This is because they’ve used them in class all year.

Finally, Number Five - The buses will begin running on Monday to deliver learning packets to students who need them. These packets will also be available online once we launch the Duval Homeroom website, and they will be available here at the school. The schedule and locations for delivery will be posted on the Homeroom website this weekend

I’m excited about walking into this new era of learning.  I will continue to communicate with you as we have information to help guide you in this season.  Thank you, and have a great day!
