Student-Centered Education Online
We are Duval County Public Schools’ full-time online school. We are “your public school — at home!” Students can set their own schedules, attend supplementary lessons, receive face-to-face tutoring and remediation at our live campus, and work from anywhere with an internet connection! Our asynchronous model is the ultimate “student-centered” experience and is ideal for students who are highly motivated and academically disciplined. A remote learning environment can also be beneficial for students who are easily distracted by peers in the traditional classroom setting. All our students have the added advantage of acquiring and improving computer technical skills due to the nature of our virtual platform.
The DVIA asynchronous format allows students to build their independent learning skills, achieve competence with various communication platforms, and develop valuable time-management practices. DVIA provides a rigorously engaging academic experience in all grades (kindergarten through 12th) by encouraging students in these skills while mastering the Florida instructional standards embedded in our state-of-the-art curriculum platform.
Flexibility of Curriculum
Parents love the accessibility of our curriculum. Students can access the coursework 24 hours a day, seven days a week to suit student and family needs. Parents are also able to view their student’s course maps and see the due dates of all assignments and assessments. Actual and overall grades are also displayed and readily available to parents who log in to the platform. Parents also have an official role as a learning coach in the DVIA model.
Customized Educational Experiences
Students are not “assigned” to our school. Along with their family, they choose to join us for Duval Virtual’s unique mission and format. This learning format lets them decide when, where, and how each will access their learning. They can adjust their start time to ensure that they are well-rested before beginning their coursework each day. Likewise, they can take breaks as needed and even adjust their school schedule to accommodate extracurricular activities. Virtual learning also accommodates those looking for a chance to pursue outside passions that require nontraditional schooling hours.
