May 28, 2026 – The final weeks of the 2025–26 school year proved to be a season of new beginnings, as district leaders officially broke ground on three major construction projects: a new Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary School, a new Pickett Elementary School, and an addition to Sandalwood High School.
The new Hogan-Spring Glen and Pickett elementary schools – along with Spring Park Elementary – are all scheduled to open in August 2027, while the addition to Sandalwood High is slated to open in January 2028.
Funded by the voter-approved half-cent sales tax, these projects reflect the district’s continued commitment to enhancing learning environments for all students. Since its passage in November 2020, the half-cent sales tax has supported the completion of five new schools: Rutledge Pearson Elementary, Highlands Estates Academy, Chaffee Trail Middle, Southside Estates Elementary, and Ribault High School. In addition to the new schools, there have been numerous campus upgrades, additions, and safety enhancements across the district.
