Band Director Evans Moses:
Moses T. Evans is an accomplished music educator and leader with more than 15 years of experience developing successful band programs and creating transformative opportunities for students through music education. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for program growth, musical excellence, student mentorship, and fostering a culture of high expectations.
Mr. Evans joins Atlantic Coast High School after serving as Director of Bands at Fort Caroline Urban Arts Academy and Highlands Middle School in Jacksonville, Florida. At Fort Caroline, he continued a tradition of excellence while leading the band program to new heights. Under his leadership, the concert band earned Straight Superior Ratings while performing Grade 4 literature at Music Performance Assessment—an achievement never before accomplished in school history.
Prior to Fort Caroline, Mr. Evans served as Director of Bands at Highlands Middle School, where he transformed the program through strategic recruitment, innovative instruction, and a commitment to student achievement. Within his first three months, he recruited more than 120 students into the band program and ultimately expanded enrollment by more than 150 students, growing the program to approximately 370 members across six performing ensembles. Under his direction, Highlands earned the first Superior Rating in school history and became one of only two middle schools in Duval County Public Schools to receive Superior Ratings at Music Performance Assessment in 2024.
Before joining Duval County Public Schools, Mr. Evans spent ten years as Director of Bands at KIPP Impact Middle School, where his ensembles consistently earned Superior Ratings and students received scholarships and acceptance into prestigious arts programs, including Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. His contributions to music education were recognized with the Jacksonville Image Award for Music Excellence.
Mr. Evans also served as Assistant Band Director at Edward Waters University, where he coordinated marching fundamentals, assisted with rehearsals, and helped develop instructional curriculum for collegiate musicians. Additionally, he has served as a band camp facilitator and adjudicator for Savannah State University.
Mr. Evans holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Edward Waters University, a Master of Music Education from the University of North Florida, and a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from the University of North Florida. He is currently completing a Doctor of Music Education degree at Liberty University.
As he begins his tenure at Atlantic Coast High School, Mr. Evans is excited to build upon the tradition of excellence within the Stingray Band program while continuing to develop outstanding musicians, leaders, and young adults.
