Hello Biscayne Elementary School families, this is Principal McBride.
We had a STELLAR day today, but I did want to make you aware of an incident that took place during morning extended day. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue was called to the school due to smoke coming from an electrical socket in the cafeteria. JFRD was able to quickly determine the cause of the smoke and disconnect the wiring for the socket.
The building was cleared for students and staff to be on campus, and district maintenance has been notified to make the necessary repairs.
All students and staff remained safe during this time, and we did not have to evacuate the building.
However, due to this incident, the cafeteria is temporarily closed, and extended day has been moved to the media center. Our kitchen is still available to prepare meals, and students were served breakfast and lunch in their classrooms today. We expect our cafeteria to be back to normal operations very soon.
We appreciate the quick responsiveness of JFRD. We take the safety and security of our school very seriously, and incidents like these are not taken lightly.

No school tomorrow
I would like to send a STELLAR thank you to our Fathers, Uncles, Brothers, and male Role Models that showed up this morning to welcome our students to school! I We have the best Dads in the entire district!

November is family month at The Stellar Choice! Tomorrow during morning intake we welcome our dads. father figures, and male role models to line up along the car riders and bus riders to welcome our students to school.
