Greetings Commanders, This is Principal Battest emailing with your weekly CommanDOME updates. We look forward to greeting students for 1st period tomorrow on time by 7.05am and in full RC Uniform. Parent drop-off is still quite busy, so please plan accordingly. For safety reasons students can only wear closed-toed athletic style shoes. No crocs, slides, or yeezys allowed. Students cannot use electronics including earbuds and headphones except in the cafeteria during lunch. Devices will be confiscated and retained if utilized in any other areas. Students can only carry clear or mesh backpacks, all other bags MUST be smaller than an 8.5X11 sheet of paper. School Counselor's Corner: This school year is off to a great start. There are no schedule changes unless your student is in a class that they have previously taken as we are still enrolling and leveling classes. Good evening Commander Families,  This is Principal Battest with your Week 20 Commander Updates. As a reminder, please reply to this email if you have any inquiries. Housekeeping: Monday January 20th there is no school in honor of Nartin Luther King Jr Day. We encourage you to attend the MLK Day parade downtown to see Commanders representing in the community. Academics: Report cards will post in Focus on Monday, January 13th.Please continue to check Focus on a weekly basis to ensure students are working to their full potential. Testing: The ELA PM2 assessment will be administered on Wednesday for 9th-grade students and Thursday for 10th-grade students. Please arrive on time. Students who improve by 10 points from PM1 to PM2, move up a color grade, or maintain a proficiency level will receive a dress down day social. This is a state exam and is mandatory for all 9th and 10th grade students.  Please make sure your student arrives to school on time as to not disrupt testing. For more information, please see your ELA teacher.  Activities: Underclass Yearbook photo retakes and makeups will be held on Tuesday January 14th in Houston Hall. Please email Ms. Terrell if you would like to retake your photo. All not pictured students will be pulled for makeup opportunity.  Class of 2025: Seniors who have not attended a Cady Studios senior photo session will be booked a time to photograph on January 14that school. This is the last opportunity for your senior's photo to be captured for the yearbook, banner, and yardsign.  This Week in School Counselor's Corner: 11th and 12th grade students, if you have not met your assessment(s) requirement for graduation, or you still need to meet college admission requirements, there is another opportunity for you! The next CLT will be administered on Saturday, January 25, 2025, 2024.  The registration fee is $40 (cash only). Please see Ms. Swain in guidance to register through January 22, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This Week in Commander Athletics: Good Luck to the Ed White Competitive Cheer team as they head to Port St Joe to compete in the FHSAA Regional Competition!!! Weightlifting looks to win their first Gateway Conference tournament on Wednesday at 11:00AM at Mandarin. Good Luck Ladies!!! Soccer is on the road this week as they head to Tocoi Creek on Tuesday and Paxon on Thursday. Ed White will be hosting the 28th Annial MLK Basketball Showcase this weekend. Please see the attached tournament schedule for all of the games.  Girls Basketball tip off their Gateway Conference Tournament with a 1st round matchup against Sandalwood at Raines on Monday night at 5:30PM. Later in the week they will host Middleburg on Friday at 6:00PM and Menendez on Monday 1/20 at 2:00PM.  Boys Basketball hosts Raines on Tuesday, and then hosts First Coast on Friday, West Nassau on Saturday and San Jose Prep on Monday.  Wrestling heads to Mandarin on Friday at 5:00PM. Baseball try outs are this Tuesday after school. Must have a fully completed Aktivate account in order to try out.
