Fort Caroline Elementary School Guidance Program

The School Guidance Program is designed to help children reach their full potential as students in school and as members of the community. The intent of the program is to enhance the social and emotional development of our students.

The Guidance Team consists of a School Counselor, VE Resource Teachers and a Speech Therapist. The school counselor provides classroom lessons, small group meetings and individual counseling. Our school counselor works closely with school staff, students, parents, and community agencies to assure that each student is supported in reaching their potential. Education resource specialists, also known as special education teachers, work with students with learning disabilities and behavioral issues. They serve as both teachers and advocates, ensuring that their students can access the curriculum and get the most out of their education. The Speech-language pathologist assesses, diagnoses, treats, and helps to prevent communication and swallowing disorders in students.

The team is also responsible for writing educational and behavior goals for students identified as needing an Individual Education Plans or 504 Plan.
