Dear Fishweir families,
Every election is important, but the 2026 upcoming general election is very important to our teachers, students, and schools.
Why the 2026 Election is Important to Our School
Four years ago, voters approved a voluntary 1-mill property assessment to support salary enhancements for our teachers and staff, as well as providing a dedicated funding source for arts and athletics for students. Under state law, this funding source must be renewed every four years.
Our Goals is to Help You Be Informed
Over the next several weeks, we will share information with you through our social media and email to ensure that you are fully informed as you go to the polls. Attached is a flier with basic information about the continuation of the 1 mill. We encourage you to take just a minute to review this information. You can also learn more at www.DuvalSchools.org/Vote.
What You Can Do Now
Most important, we encourage you to participate in the election and let your voice be heard on this issue. If you need to register to vote, you can do so at Florida Online Voter Registration System.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to be informed on this issue, and we encourage you to check out our website or ask me if you have any questions.

Hello and Happy Monday Fishweir Families! Please take a moment to check your email for updates about PikMyKid and important dismissal reminders. Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe, efficient, and stress-free for everyone.

Please review the attached flyer for two important updates:
🍎 Student Meal Policy Update – There has been a change to the meal policy for this school year. Students who have not completed the necessary meal application or qualification process may not receive free meals during the first 30 days of school as they did in previous years. Please see the flyer for details.
🚗 Dismissal Parking Reminder – To help us be good neighbors and keep dismissal running smoothly, please review the parking expectations outlined in the flyer.
Thank you for your partnership and support! 💙🐠

WORKSHOP MAKES MUSIC MAGIC - Our Team Duval Shoutout for today goes to district music educators who participated in the week-long intensive “Drumming Up the Fun” music workshop. This engaging workshop, held at Fishweir Elementary, covered instructional techniques to bring books and songs alive through music, drumming, movement, read-alouds, and student collaboration. Made possible by an FLDOE Early Childhood Music Incentive Grant received by the Fine Arts Department this year, this innovative instructional approach fostered teamwork, enhanced cognitive and motor skills, and improved literacy while students learned how to play a variety of musical instruments. Our featured photo shows teachers during the public performance that marked the culmination of their learning in this session. Congratulations to the Fine Arts Department and all of the teachers who made this workshop a success!
