Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center proudly celebrated Literacy Week 2026 from January 26–30, 2026, in alignment with Duval County Public Schools’ theme, “Read White and Blue: Celebrating 250 Chapters of America.” The week was filled with engaging activities designed to promote a love of reading and learning among our students.
Throughout the week, students participated in daily virtual guest reader sessions held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via Microsoft Teams. Each day, a guest reader shared a story with students, creating meaningful opportunities to connect literacy with history, community, and imagination.

In addition to the daily readings, a special highlight took place on Thursday, when interactive literacy displays were set up in the school gym. Students and staff had the opportunity to walk around, explore the displays, and engage with a variety of educational and visually appealing materials that brought reading to life.
The successful planning and coordination of Literacy Week activities were facilitated by our Assistant Principal, Ms. Johnson, whose leadership ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Principal Moses Williams expressed his appreciation for the successful event and extended his heartfelt thanks to the staff, guest readers, and everyone who contributed to making Literacy Week 2026 a memorable and impactful experience for our school community.
Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center remains committed to fostering literacy and celebrating learning in meaningful and engaging ways.
