On the morning of February 27, 2026, Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center proudly held its Black History Month Culminating Activity in the school’s multipurpose room. The celebration brought together students, staff, and special guests for a meaningful and joyful event.

The program featured two inspiring guest speakers who shared messages about courage, determination, inclusion, and believing in yourself. Their words encouraged students to recognize their unique strengths, celebrate who they are, and continue working toward their personal goals with confidence.

We were also honored to welcome guests from various Black fraternities and sororities. Representatives from each organization introduced themselves and shared a brief history of their group, along with the service work and community involvement they proudly carry out. Their presentations highlighted the importance of unity, leadership, scholarship, and giving back to the community.
The event also included wonderful performances. Students enjoyed an energetic dance performance from a visiting school that brought excitement to the room. A choir performance followed, filling the multipurpose room with uplifting music that everyone appreciated.

One of the highlights of the morning was Ms. Lyn from Room 17, who performed an original rap song. Her performance energized the audience, and the room erupted with cheers and applause as everyone showed their support.
Overall, the Black History Month Culminating Activity was a successful and heartwarming celebration of culture, community, and achievement. It was a special morning that will be remembered by all who attended.
