Patriot News Headline

Dear parents and guardians,

Happy Sunday Patriots! This week we begin state testing in Math, ELA, Civics and Science. While these tests are important as they determine placement in your cadet’s classes. For example, if your cadet gets a level 1 on the ELA/Reading test, he or she will be placed in intensive reading for next year. One more example is if your seventh grader gets a 3, 4 or 5 on the Math test, they will be placed in high school Algebra I for eight grade. Also notable is that the Civics EOC, Biology and Algebra I EOC score counts for 30% of your cadet’s final grade in the course.

From the Florida Commissioner of Education - As we approach the PM3 testing window and the end of the school year, please see my latest Commissioner’s message. Please encourage your students to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and put forth their best effort to finish the school year strong. We are thrilled that our students have the opportunity to show all that they have learned this year!

Jackets – Starting tomorrow, on May 4, cadet jackets will no longer be worn in the halls, common areas and formation. No Jackets starting May 4th. While we are certainly sympathetic to some of the colder classrooms, cadets can wear the uniform jacket at the teacher’s discretion. We ask that they are removed at all other times. While jackets are intended for wear in cold or cooler weather, many cadets wear them for other reasons: hide their phones, food and snacks, prohibited items and more popularly, to avoid tucking in their shirt. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Summer Camp - As we are near the end of the school year, we are also in the beginning stages of planning for the summer. Our summer camp program is scheduled to run from June 8 through July 17, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It is a free summer program. I am attaching two flyers: one for rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders and one for our rising 9th graders.
