Good Morning, JSMAL Families,
This week, our cadets will participate in the first round of state assessments. Students will take the Progress Monitoring 1 (PM1) Reading Assessment on September 1 and the PM1 Math Assessment on September 3.
To maximize testing opportunities and minimize disruptions, JSMAL will operate on a modified schoolwide schedule on both testing days. Most cadets will test with their first-period teacher. Students who require small-group settings or other testing accommodations will report to their predetermined testing locations.
Parents and guardians, please help your cadet be successful by ensuring that they are well-rested, arrive on time, and come prepared to do their very best on these important assessments.
We are also excited to announce that JSMAL is planning its first Cultural Day Celebration this fall! This event will provide cadets, families, and friends of JSMAL with an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the foods, arts, colors, traditions, artifacts, and contributions that make our diverse cultures so special. The next meeting of the Multicultural Committee will be held on September 4, and a participation survey will be sent home to families in the coming days. This is an event you will not want to miss!
On Friday, September 4, JSMAL will host our first Dress-Down Day and in-school dance. The cost to participate in both activities is $5.00. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase during the dance.
Thank you for your continued support of JSMAL. Together, we will ensure a successful week of learning, achievement, and celebration.
Respectfully,
Trevor Clayton, Principal
Joseph Stilwell Military Academy of Leadership
