Moving from elementary to middle school can be one of the most difficult transitions a student will make. We're here to help students get acclimated to KMS by hosting our annual Summer Bridge Program for our incoming 6th graders. The program will help students get to know some of their fellow classmates and teachers, learn how to navigate our campus, and get to have their questions answered by our panel of students. What is Summer Bridge? This Event Will Include: Meeting Your New Classmates Meeting Teachers and Staff Touring the School Collect Your Laptop, Id and Schedule Q&A With current Students Games and Fun! When is Summer Bridge? Thursday, July 31st From 9:00-1:00 Register Here: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=TR3rjaTQBE2JrvcHbLqp-06rattOauZElWaSXJQMmEpUOTI4TlFKVDhDTVRFVUlaOVdMWlVVRzhOWi4u

MISS JACKSONVILLE VISITS KERNAN MIDDLE – Students enrolled in Kernan Middle School’s Pre-Early College program received a special treat when Miss Jacksonville 2025 and Team Duval alum Anjelica Jones stopped by to share important advice about college and career. Teacher Patrice McCloud invited Jones as part of ongoing lessons about interviews and resumes. Jones, a law student who attended Fletcher High School, spoke to students about interviews, college applications, scholarships, and more.

Hello Kernan Middle School families., This is Principal Akande. All students and staff are safe, but I did want to inform you of a very poor decision made by one of our students today that resulted in their arrest. This student was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon on campus, specifically, brass knuckles. The prohibited item was used to threaten another student. In addition to criminal charges, the student is also facing school discipline as outlined in the code of conduct. We are in direct contact with the families of the students involved in this incident. While I am disappointed to have to report this type of incident, I do want to take the opportunity to emphasize that the behavior that took place is unacceptable and there are very real and life-altering consequences that can result from making threats or bringing a weapon to campus. Thank you for listening and for your partnership in keeping our school a safe place for our students and staff. Have a good rest of your day.
