Dr. Turner receiving PTA Administrator of the Year Award

Season’s Greetings Eagles,

As the weather begins to change we are reminded of the changes we too are experiencing. From Freshmen transitioning to high school to Seniors moving through the college admissions process, we are all experiencing change. As Eagles, our charge is to manage and guide our change. During this holiday season filled with change, it is important to find peace and reside there for as long as possible. Happy Holidays.

For many of you, PSAT results have been recorded as well as mid-year assessment data. It is a great time to review and reflect on your progress. If your achievement is not where you wish, schedule a time to speak with the teacher to chart your way to success. We encourage everyone to take advantage of some form of tutoring if needed. We also encourage everyone to revisit your study routine to determine effectiveness. A fundamental habit is reading. We will not reach the goals we have set without committing to reading the text. We first say it, then we do it.

In an effort to keep our students safe, we are asking that all parents adhere to our afterschool procedures. Students should be picked up by 3:15 PM daily. Please ensure your child is picked up on time daily. We currently have seats available in our after school program. This fee based program will allow you to pick up your student after 3:15 PM. We are looking to increase the number of students in the after school program. Please consider this program as we will be assessing a fee to students who remain after school beyond the 3:15 PM time without adult supervision.

Our School Advisory Council is hard at work this year. The SAC has been busy monitoring our school improvement plan and the efforts of our teachers to differentiate. The SAC meets at 4 PM on the second Tuesday of each month in the Media Center conference room. Please consider joining the group for a meeting.

Our PTSA has also been busy this year. The PTSA has held Coffee and Chats, Voter education events, Soup-er Wednesday featuring different soups for the faculty as well as a massage wellness activity for the staff. The PTSA has also found time to conduct monthly meetings with advocacy discussions. If you have not joined the PTSA, please make every effort to make this happen.

We ask that you consider helping us show thanks to our faculty and staff by donating gift cards in increments of $10-$25.  These gift cards will be distributed during our holiday luncheon in December.  We would like to ensure all employees receive a gift card. If you wish to give, please send your donation to the main office in a sealed envelope addressed to Dr. Allen.  Please include parent name, student name, and a contact email address so that we can confirm receipt of your gift. We ask that you submit your donations by December 16th.

We would like to congratulate our Employee of the Year, Cecil Spikes. Kudos to our Chorus on being selected to open the November School Board meeting. Congratulations to Paxon School for Advanced Studies on being named a State of Florida School of Excellence.

A new year is upon us and with that, all the changes that are inevitable. We look forward to taking on these changes and emerging victorious. Our attitude continues to be that we will achieve academic success in spite of changes. We are built for this. With Highest Expectations.

With Highest Expectations,

Dr. Turner
