Founded in 1916, Ruth N. Upson Elementary School is celebrated for its long history of well-rounded curriculum and supportive, compassionate teachers. Along with reading, math, social studies, and science, students have the unique opportunity to participate daily in fun and engaging electives, arts and PE. There is no other school quite like Upson.

Just like its central location in the charming neighborhood of Murray Hill, Ruth N. Upson serves as the center of community life for children. It boasts a diverse student body with equally diverse extracurricular activities: yoga, coding, dance, and safety patrol.
Ruth N. Upson continues to live up to its reputation as Murray Hill’s premier community school. Its namesake left an incredible legacy after serving as the school’s principal for 32 years, and that same devotion and commitment to students lives on today.
