Our chicks will be hatching soon, and the kids are so excited! This year is extra special because we’ll be able to keep the chicks and watch them grow into chickens right here at school.
However… we need a little help to make this possible!
We have already purchased a chicken coop, but I am not a builder. I am looking for 3–5 volunteers who are comfortable building and can help assemble the coop before the chicks are ready to move in. Mr. Conner has already agreed to help and can coordinate the building. We just need a few more builders.
What we need:
2-3 people who know what they’re doing and can help get the coop built
The coop must be completed by 5/20, when the chickens will need to move in
When you can build:
Any school day between 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Volunteers must have Level 1 clearance
AND/OR during the Kelp Club Clean Up Day on 4/25, when you’ll have easy access to the area
If this sounds like something you could help with, we would be incredibly grateful!
Please sign up using the attached SignUpGenius.
Could this be you? The kids (and future chickens!) are counting on us. Thank you for supporting this exciting learning experience! 💛🐓
Sincerely - Ms. Romer

CELEBRATING SCHOOL COUNSELORS — Team Duval is proud to recognize National School Counseling Week and the incredible impact our more than 240 school counselors make every single day. They advocate for students, help them navigate their academic journeys, and guide them toward their goals. Our success as an A-rated district with a 97.6% graduation rate would not be possible without these dedicated professionals. As part of this special week, dozens of counselors gathered at the Schultz Center for their annual conference, focused on building student “superpowers” like grit and resilience – perfectly aligned with the national theme of helping students thrive and preparing them for college, career, and life. Their commitment to growing their own “superpowers” directly fuels student success across Team Duval. Join us in thanking our outstanding school counselors for the lasting difference they make in our schools and community!
