Today's appreciation follows Marie Maynard Daly who was born in April of 1921 in queens New York she holds the title of being the first African American woman to earn a PhD in chemistry. She taught science at Howard while simultaneously researching cancer cells and biochemistry. Daly's interest in science was also influenced by her father, who had attended Cornell university with the intention of becoming a chemist, but had been unable to complete his education due to a lack of funds due to this she established a scholarship program to aid black stem students.
Wolfson Origami Club is hosting a raffle for a 25 dollar amazon gift card from February 2nd to February 27th. To enter, simply fold a paper crane following directions from the flyers posted in teams or in every ELA classroom, or by following the club Instagram @wolfsonorigamiclub, then write your name and student number on the wing, and leave it in one of the drop bags in every ELA classroom.
