At this time, online payments have been suspended due to a glitch in the payment system that allowed families to continue paying for events after event capacity had already been reached. Families whose payments were affected by this issue will receive refunds. Moving forward, all payments for the remaining events must be processed at the school.

Invitations went out yesterday to eligible 8th grade students for our End of Year Bash activities, and we are excited to celebrate the Class of 2026 in a major way. These end-of-year activities were designed to honor our students, create lasting memories, and send them into high school with joy, pride, and Raider spirit.

🎮 Dave & Buster’s – May 11
Students will enjoy a VIP experience filled with food, games, and fun. This is a high-energy kickoff event that gives students a chance to celebrate together and enjoy a special off-campus experience.
🍽️ Sign & Dine – May 18
Students may purchase their yearbook and enjoy a catered breakfast experience on campus with yearbook signing, music, and entertainment. This is a chance to celebrate friendships and capture memories from their middle school journey.
🎪 Raider Carnival – May 19
Students will enjoy a fun-filled field day experience featuring a food truck, game truck, and exciting games and activities. This event is all about celebration, community, and ending the year with joy.
🎓 8th Grade Celebration – May 21
Students and two adult guests will enjoy a commemorative event as we honor our 8th graders and bid them farewell as they prepare for high school. This will be a proud and meaningful milestone for our Raider families.
✨ Raider Ball – May 22
Students will enjoy an elegant evening in Paris-themed style. Dressed to impress, they will experience a catered meal, great music, and memories to last for a lifetime.

Important reminders:

✔️ All end-of-year events are invitation only for eligible students

✔️ Some options are available as package deals, while select events may be purchased à la carte
✔️ Students must continue meeting eligibility expectations for participation
Appeals Process:
Families of students who do not meet one or more eligibility requirements may request consideration through the appeals process. Appeals require a written reflection, an appeal conference with administration, and are reviewed holistically. Approval is not guaranteed. Appeal papers will be processed by the administration during 8th-grade lunch.

We will continue strict enforcement of our uniform and ID policies. Students must be in proper uniform daily and wear their ID visibly around their neck at all times.
✅ Permissible Dress:
• Grade-level shirts with Westside logo
🔴 6th Grade – Red
⚫ 7th Grade – Black
⚪ 8th Grade – Grey
• School-approved outerwear with logo OR plain red, black, or grey aligned to grade level
• Khaki or uniform-style bottoms (no denim)
• Closed-toe shoes
🚫 Not Permitted:
• Hoodies (per DCPS Code of Conduct)
• Jeans, ripped pants, or denim
• Leggings, jeggings, tights worn as pants
• Sweatpants or athletic shorts
• Skirts or dresses not aligned to uniform expectations
• Shiesty masks or non-compliant face coverings
• Blankets, stuffed animals
• Wireless headphones, earbuds, or tablets
🆔 ID Expectations:
• IDs must be worn on a lanyard around the neck at all times
• Required for school entry, movement, and safety
🚌 Bus Expectations:
Students must scan their ID:
• At the bus stop in the morning
• When exiting school in the afternoon
• For daily school entry
🚨 Students without IDs may be denied transportation. STA drivers can deny ridership if a student does not have an ID to scan due to safety protocols.
💳 ID replacements can be purchased through SchoolCash Online or during lunch through our Parent Liaison, Mrs. Hamilton.
