Updates from the BSE Administration Team

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! We are so very thankful for your support and your dedication to our staff and students.

Congratulations to Ms. Priscilla Anderson, one of our Art Teachers. Ms. Anderson has been selected as a Top 15 Semifinalist for the VyStar Teacher of the Year! We are very proud of her and her accomplishment.

For your safety as well as our students, please do not park on the grass near the flagpole during morning drop off. We have witnessed some new accidents with cars backing out into the moving car line.

With three weeks left before Winter Break, please make sure your child is in attendance for our mid-year state assessments. If you have questions about your child's progress, be sure to contact your child's teacher.

Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Gifted & Talented Information

Is your child showing signs of giftedness—whether through exceptional strengths or the hidden challenges gifted students sometimes face? Gifted traits may appear through creativity, curiosity, advanced thinking, sensitivity, or even behaviors that seem “negative” on the surface but may indicate deeper potential.

According to research by Susan Riehert and Coleman, gifted learners may show a wide range of characteristics. Challenging traits may include boredom with routine tasks or high emotional intensity, while exceeding traits may include advanced vocabulary, rapid learning, strong memory, creativity, and deep conceptual understanding.

If these characteristics resonate with your child, BSE would love to support you as you learn more. Please reach out to Mrs. Spence (dossantospence@duvalschools.org) with questions or to explore gifted services.
