CELEBRATING SCHOOL COUNSELORS — Team Duval is proud to recognize National School Counseling Week and the incredible impact our more than 240 school counselors make every single day. They advocate for students, help them navigate their academic journeys, and guide them toward their goals. The Fletcher High School Varsity Brain Brawl team won the Duval County
Public Schools competition for the first time since 1991. They have qualified
for the state championship in April and the national championship in May.
Team members are Nathan Andrews, Dane Blakeman, Val Bolton, Vella
Gaillard, Harper George, Caelan Gilbert, Ridley Martin, Ethan Peele, Nate
Tusing, Roscoe Wright, and Kaden Young.

Ms. Michaels Aeronautics students had the opportunity to work on building model planes out of thin metal sheets. It was an amazing experience to see the various models of planes we had been learning about the previous semester on a small, three-dimensional scale. Working alongside my peers allowed us each to attempt building a different plane model, resulting in a fleet of aircrafts across our table. It was a super fun class period, allowing us to participate in kinesthetic learning, providing a break from everyday learning and leading to a deepened understanding on the construction of aircrafts.

The Fletcher Jazz Machine got Straight Superiors at District Performance Assessment. (This is the highest rating given!) This is the first time that the Jazz Band has gotten straight superiors since Mr. Salinas became the band director. Congratulations to the Fletcher Jazz Machine!

Congratulations to Ms. Michaels' Dual Enrollment Aerospace program for being selected as one of the Top Three High School Aviation programs in North Florida at the NDIA STEM Symposium. Aerospace student Alex Emerson competed against hundreds of students at the event and won 1 of 6 STEM Scholarships!

THE 2ND ANNUAL CTE CAREER ACADEMY SHOWCASE – You're invited to this free community event where Duval’s educators and students shine! Highlighting all 67 of the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Academies and programs, this event offers students and teachers a platform to share their innovative work with families and the broader community. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with academy staff and students, explore the unique programs offered across the district, and receive expert guidance from CTE staff on navigating the application process. No advanced registration is required. This event takes place Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Adam W. Herbert University Center at the University of North Florida.
