We are excited to welcome our returning 1st–5th grade families to join us for our Greening of the Grounds event Saturday, July 26th 7:00am- 1:00pm —a special day where we come together as a school community to prepare and beautify our campus for the new school year.
We kindly ask each Axson family to donate one bag of red mulch to support this effort. Mulch may be dropped off on the main office porch, placed on the pallet near the door, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori’s deep respect for nature, this hands-on event reflects her belief that the outdoor environment is a vital extension of the classroom. Through this work, we nurture curiosity, peace, and a lasting connection to the world around us.

Please remember that today's dismissal is at noon. We will start at 11:45. There is no extended day. Everyone will pick up in the car line.

If you are potentially interested in your child riding the bus next year, please register today in your Parent Focus account. Just complete the 25-26 Transportation Registration form under Forms. Only buses with at least 11 students registered will have an active route. So it's important to register if you would like to have the bus as a choice for next school year. We are only zoned to offer transportation to Beaches, Arlington, and the Northside. Buses and bus stops will be assigned and show in the your Parent Focus account over the summer.

Camp will run Monday through Friday June 9th through July 18th, 8am to 5pm for $200 per week, with extended day options for an extra cost. The Axson Book Fair is here next week! Your child’s classroom teacher has signed up for a time for their students to shop. However, the times listed below are available to shop with your child/children. The Magnet Season is starting early this year, and our School Showcase is this Saturday, December 7th. Come check out our school and see what we're all about. We will have 4 tour times at 9am, 10:45am, 12:30pm, and 2pm. These tours do count as a school tour for your magnet application. If you miss the tours on Saturday, you can still call us at 904-992-3600 to schedule a tour during the week. All Magnet applications are due by January 31st. You can get started online today by going to https://www.duvalschools.org/o/dcps/page/new-student-enrollment and following the steps. Remember the final step is signing into your parent focus account, and completing the 25-26 Magnet Application.

Congratulations to Maya Bjorn, J Allen Axson's 2024-25 Spelling Bee winner!! We are proud of her and all of our participating 5th graders. They did an amazing job!

The Square 1 Art order deadline has been extended to December 9th. Be sure to place your Square 1 Art order online by December 9th. If you want to purchase a school tile, it is automatically added to your cart. You do not have to find the item and add it to your cart. If you do not want the school tile, you can remove it from your cart before you check out. The school tiles stay at Axson and are added to the legacy walls displayed in the hallways. If you want a tile for home, that's a separate item that you can shop for.

We are so proud of our two Robotics teams! On Saturday, they demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication! The Rising Robo Rockers 4th-grade team earned a Robot game high score of 260, a truly remarkable feat! The Robo Rockers (5th grade) also received the high score award at their event with a score of 240 and were declared champions! Both teams will be advancing to Regionals in January. @duvalschools

Our Scholastic Book Fair opens tomorrow and will run all week. You can go to https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/jallenaxsonbookfair to check out the book fair online and set up an ewallet for your child. You can also send in cash with your child. Be sure to communicate with your child's teacher. There will be class times for visiting the book fair that your teacher should let you know of, as well as there will be open times throughout the week that your child can visit the book fair with teacher permission.

DCPS asked us to name a Parent Champion. It was a hard task, because we have so many great parent volunteers at Axson, but we could only pick one. Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Kristina Damato, J. Allen Axson's Parent Champion. Ms. Kristina is a very involved Axson parent. She is on our PTA board, she helps a lot with school tours and other events like Fall Festival, and she's been an amazing parent volunteer for more than 8 years.
