Week of October 14th Parent Newsletter
District schools were closed for two days due to Hurricane Helene and were closed three days due to Hurricane Milton. As a result, students and families should plan to make up these days on the following dates: Friday, Nov. 1; Friday, Feb. 14; and Friday, May 30. All three of these dates were weather days but have been converted to regular school days. We only need to make up three days because there was enough instructional time built into the calendar to cover the other lost days.

2024-2025 Covid Guidelines The Florida Department of Health-Duval aligns with the CDC and has conveyed new, unified guidance for K-12 schools. This is a comprehensive approach that addresses risks associated with various respiratory viral illnesses, including COVID-19, flu, and RSV. It effectively consolidates and simplifies previous recommendations specific to K-12 settings, consequently replacing previous guidance for COVID-19 and influenza in schools. Additionally, this new guidance is fully aligned with the CDC’s respiratory virus guidance (see attached). If a student or employee tests positive for COVID, they must stay home and away from others until their symptoms improve and they are fever-free for 24 hours without using any fever-reducing medication. - When symptomatic, they should take extra precautions for the next five days to prevent transmission/spread. - Asymptomatic individuals who are fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of any fever-reducing substances, and otherwise healthy should NOT be excluded from school. - It's important to adhere to the DCPS Sick Student Policy, which states that parents/guardians should not bring or send a sick student to school if the student shows any signs of illness or is unable to participate in the normal routine and regular school day. Please review all symptoms requiring the removal of a student from school as per the Sick Student Policy. - A note from a healthcare provider is necessary for absences of three or more consecutive days, hospitalizations, or significant illnesses under the doctor's care. The guidance still encourages vaccination, testing for COVID if symptoms develop, and staying home from school or work when sick.

The Friends of Jacksonville Beach Elementary (FOJBE) PTO is a community of parents, teachers, staff, and community partners with one common goal: to make JBE the best school it can be! FOJBE PTO funds projects that benefit our school; it bridges the gap in funding for items and services that are not included in the school budget… We can only do that with your help. Any level of support is greatly appreciated! PTO membership is only $10. Membership covers a car tag (to make the car line run smoother), voting, a monthly newsletter, and ongoing benefits for your student. To get your car tag, you must go to the front office, get verified, and show your receipt of purchase. Note: If you purchase a Car Tag Only, the car tag will cost $12 each. You will need to go to the front office to get verified and show your purchase receipt. Parents, you are required to have a new car tag each year. https://my.cheddarup.com/c/friends-of-jax-beach-pto-membership/items?cart

We want to ensure that parents stay connected. Please make sure you have updated your DCPS Linked Parent Account with the correct email address and cell phone number. Parent accounts are managed in ONEVIEW, not in FOCUS. Changes in Focus will not roll over to the Parent Account in OneView. Any information added to Pikmykid manually for parents will be overridden in the nightly sync. Please ensure you have updated your linked parent accounts and then allow the nightly sync to run for updates to show in Pikmykid. For more information and informative videos, please click the link below. https://dcps.duvalschools.org/parentaccount
