On the flyer, you will find information for English classes, homework help for students, assistance with how to use Focus (the platform teachers use to post grades, communicate at home, request bus transportation, and so much more), and classes for citizenship tests. Families, we want to thank you for supporting our Scholastic Book Fair! We have reached $2300 dollars in sales. We have a goal of $3800 prior to February 20th. Please help us to achieve that goal by allowing your students to purchase on campus on tomorrow or online before February 20th.

About the Student Essay Contest- February 3rd - February 21st The Black History Month essay contest is open to all students grades 6-8th. Six winners will be selected: two from each grade level. Each winner will receive a gift card and up to $100 for school supplies. Student may enter only one essay, written in English, no longer than 500 words. There are many examples throughout our state’s history of African Americans and their contributions to Florida’s success. Using your own words, write about an African American who has had an impactful effect whose story should be shared. The subject of the essay should be a Floridian. Some examples are: • Lottery Secretary John Davis • Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune • Ray Charles • Representative Kiyan Michael

James Baldwin born August 1924, died December 1987 was a writer and civil rights activist. He is most famous writing was “Notes of a Native Son”, which lead him to being a voice for human equality. He was an influential public figure during the civil rights movement.
