NJHS: National Junior Honor Society
Matthew Gilbert is proud to continue this honorable tradition amongst our middle schools. NJHS is a group of hard working students that are committed to academic achievement and service to their community. Students must represent the following traits: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Students must have a 3.5 GPA at the end of their 6th grade year in order to be considered for NJHS the next calendar school year. The students may not have any Class II referrals. They will be are required to maintain a 3.0 throughout the remainder of their middle school career to remain active.
5000 Role Models
The 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project is a dropout prevention, mentoring program committed to closing the minority male achievement (access) gap by guiding male students.
Si Se Puede
Si Se Puede is a school club for the Spanish speaking students. This club aims to build trust and relationships within the school community.
Choir
The Matthew Gilbert Choir is a club for all grade-level students. The choir performs throughout the school year during holidays and school events. The students can learn a variety of music styles and they know how to perform live on stage.
Drama Club
Drama Club is where students can participate in theatrical activities like acting, improvisation, stagecraft, and playwriting. The drama club performs throughout the school year during the holidays and school events.
