On Thursday, our 5th graders will take the District PMA Science test. This will be based on the 1st nine weeks' benchmarks they learned. Testing will start at 9am so please make sure they are on time and ready to go!

Like I said this is a busy, but fun week! Please make sure students are at school each day and on time! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. See you on Monday morning!

Good evening, Rutledge Pearson Families! This is Principal Adkins with your weekly update for the week of October 13th-17th.

This is a short week for students. Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, October 13th, due to a Teacher Planning Day, and also Tuesday, October 14th, for a Teacher Inservice Day. Students will return to campus on Wednesday, October 15th, which is also the first day of the 2nd nine weeks. Report Cards for the 1st nine weeks will be available on Tuesday, October 21st.

Due to the short week, the only major events we will have are Green Party Rewards during lunch for those who scored in the Green on either their Reading Unit Assessments or their Math Unit Assessments. We will also have our BIZI store deliveries on Friday.

As always, please make sure students are at school and on time each day. We look forward to a great week. We will see each of you on Wednesday! Have a great rest of your weekend and a restful two days off.

CELEBRATING OUTSTANDING MENTORS AT RUTLEDGE PEARSON –

This Team Duval Shoutout highlights the incredible work of Keisha Robinson and Stacy Adams, both mentors in the district’s Jacksonville Teacher Residency graduate program. They guide UNF students pursuing education degrees and working toward certification, helping to grow the next generation of teachers. Jennifer Saoud shares that:

- Keisha Robinson is dedicated, reflective, and intentional. She engages in meaningful dialogue with her residents, provides opportunities to lead instruction and practice essential teaching skills, and offers supportive feedback that encourages growth.

- Stacy Adams is a model mentor who makes her residents feel welcomed and part of the classroom community from day one. She fosters a true co-teaching environment, collaborates on instruction and classroom management, and explains the reasoning behind her decisions, offering valuable insight into effective teaching practices.

Good evening, Tiger Nation! This is Principal Adkins with your weekly update for October 6th-10th. This is the last week of the 1st nine weeks. The quarter officially comes to a close on Friday. All assignments or makeup work must be completed before Friday. Please check FOCUS for any updates to grades. Report Cards will be published in FOCUS on Monday, October 20th.

Monday help us support our Jaguars! As a Faculty and Staff, we are "Tealing" Out or any Jaguar attire will do. We our doing our part to support our Jags as they take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. We are looking for teal, Jaguar shirts or Jersey, or even animal print! And if we win we want you to wear those same colors on Tuesday!

Friday is Picture Day! Please come dressed to take your best picture. Just a reminder this photo will go in our yearbook. Parents will also be able to purchase. We will start our picture schedule right at 8:30 am so please make sure students are on time. Make-ups will be held in November.

Attendance is a big push for us this year and we've been doing pretty well. Last week, we saw a dip in our attendance for the first time all year. The two grade levels that had the worst attendance were first grade, with 86% in attendance, and 5th grade, with 89% in attendance. This is the first time we have dropped past 90% in any grade level. Help us by making sure students are at school and on time. This also means to stop checking them out early every day. We understand that appointments happen, however, we have some parents that check their child out early everyday. They are missing valuable instruction and grades will be reflective.

Once again, families, please help us with morning arrival. We still have families parking and dropping students off on the side by Spottswood Dr., and letting their child walk across traffic. Last Thursday, we had a 1st grade student almost hit as she crossed that same side. Signs will go up tomorrow after school and a flyer will go home. Our officer will stay in that area so please do not park and walk your child up, especially our PreK families. Our officer does have the capability to write traffic tickets and he may need to start. This takes everyone to do their part. I'm shocked at the families I see parking and letting kids out, especially when I know they followed the car rider procedures last year each day.

We are excited for another great week at Rutledge Pearson Elementary! See everyone on Monday morning!

SAC Meeting Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 5:00 pm in the media center.
Welcome back, Tigers, for another great week! We have a few events, but it will be a much quieter week than it has been.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30th, we will have our SAC and PTA meeting at 5 pm in the Media Center. We will hold elections for positions in PTA and SAC. Please come out and support our school. If you are looking to get involved, this is the way to do that.

We will reward students for meeting the attendance goal for the month of September on Tuesday. The goal was to be present for 18 out of the 21 days we were in school for September. Our next attendance goal for October will be 18 out of 21 days. If students are not at school, we cannot teach them so please make sure they are at school and on time each day.

Families, I need your help! We have families that are parking on the side by Spottswood Dr and letting students cross the busy drive or even walking their PreK student up to sign them in. Today, I put up stakes and no parking tape to deter people from parking there. I am afraid that someone will get hurt or hit by another car. It is not safe. All cars must go through the car rider line. I know as adults we want something convenient, but when it comes to student safety, we cannot opt for convenience. PreK families, please pull through the line and drop off at the media center. When you walk up, you slow down the process for those who are following the car rider system. We have also given specific car rider tags for Extended Day and Patrol drop off. They are the only cars that are allowed through that cut through. The cones will be shut at 7:50 am. If everyone does their part, we will get students safely into the building and have an amazing day.

I hope you all had a great weekend! The weather is expected to be rainy in the beginning of the week but become cooler as the week progresses. Fall might be here! We are excited for another great week! See everyone on Monday morning.
Have a great rest of your evening!

Welcome Back RHP Families! This is Principal Adkins with the weekly updates for September 22nd through September 26th.

On Wednesday, September 24th we are having a mom event for Kindergarten and 1st grade students. We will have Parent Academy present out about Literacy, FOCUS, and Attendance. The event will be held in the cafeteria and will begin with a lite breakfast from 8:00-8:30 and then our program will take place from 8:30-9:30. A flyer to RSVP will come home tomorrow.

Friday is our Blast Off Friday. We have the following scheduled for our students: House Meeting, BIZI Store, Student of the Month, and our Patrol Dance. Make sure students have paid for the dance in order to attend. It is a busy day!

Makeups will occur for all 3rd-5th graders on Monday and Tuesday for FAST state testing.

We are also looking for individuals that are interested in holding a PTA or SAC office. We will hold our meeting on September 30th. Elections will take place then.

Looking forward to another great week at Rutledge Pearson. See you all on Monday morning! have a great rest of your night and weekend!

Good afternoon families,

This is Principal Adkins and I wanted to let you know about an incident that occurred today at school. Our school was placed on a brief lockdown today due to a medical emergency. One of our staff members pushed the emergency lockdown button on accident. It was quickly removed, and our day went on as scheduled. Our students responded well to the lockdown but went right back to work once the lockdown was determined an accident. We just wanted to keep you informed. Have a great rest of your night and we will see everyone in the morning.

Good evening, Rutledge Pearson Families,

This is Principal Adkins with your weekly updates for the Week of September 15th through September 19th. It is another busy and exciting week at Tiger Nation.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will take their first state assessment this week. The majority of students will test on Wednesday and Thursday this week. The only exception is Ms. Campbell-Clayton's class. They will assess on Tuesday and Thursday due to a scheduling conflict. On testing days, we need all students at school and on time. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria if needed. All testing will start no later than 8:45 am. If your child is late, they will be sent to the holding tank and tested at a later time. It is important that they are at school on time because students generally test better in their normal testing environment. Once results are available then they will be sent home for you to view.

Progress Reports will be sent out on Monday. They were published in FOCUS on Friday, but we had some technology issues that prevented us from printing. Look for those on Monday to come home.

Our students have taken a few Unit Assessments over the past two weeks to determine if they have learned the first few benchmarks. Our goal is for students to score in the Green, which is considered 66% or higher. This is the equivalent of scoring a Level 3, 4, or 5, which is passing the state assessments. Please ask your student what they have made. They all should know. We are rewarding students who make the green during lunch each week. They can earn treats, soda, popsicles, and more. Student ownership of their data is important, and when they know where they are, they know what to do to get better.

We are excited to start Week 6 and know it will be a great week. Remember, Attendance is important, and students have to be present in order to learn. Students must be on time so they do not miss any important lessons. This also applies to students not being checked out early so you do not have to wait in the car rider line. When you check your student out early every day they are missing instruction and it will be reflected in their grades.

We are happy to see every student on Monday! Lets make it a great week!

Open House 3rd - 5th Grades only on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Good evening Rutledge Pearson families,

We hope you had a wonderful weekend and are excited for another great week! This is Principal Adkins with your weekly updates for the week of September 8th through September 12th.

Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade State testing will begin this week. They will be tested in both Reading and Math. For the first assessment, they are tested in smaller groups and will progress to the whole class by the final assessment in May. Please make sure your child is at school each day and on time! Once testing is completed, the teachers will send out your child's data report so you are aware of their current standing.

Open House for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will be on Thursday from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. We will start in the cafeteria and then move into classes after announcements and data review. We will reward students with BIZI points if their parent attends Open House. Please come out and meet the teachers, learn about expectations for the year, and learn how state testing impacts your child. This is extremely important.

Progress Reports will go home on Friday. We are officially half way through the first nine week. The first nine weeks is often a review of what they learned the year before with some new content. Students giving effort and ensuring homework is turned in can assist them with their grades. Art, Music, and PE will also provide grades. If your child receives a N- Needs Improvement or U- Unsatisfactory it will impact their Honor Roll opportunities. Please make sure that you are checking focus and keeping up with their grades, especially since the school year will move quickly.

We are excited as we start Week 5 and can't wait to see your child on Monday morning! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, especially with a Jaguar win! It should be a great week!

Welcome back, Rutledge families! This is Principal Adkins with your weekly updates for the week of September 1st through September 5th.

First off, I hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend! I know the weather was not the best but I know it was still an opportunity to rest, get away, and enjoy family. We are back for week 4 starting tomorrow morning! We are happy to see our students return to campus!

A few important events this week.
1. Open House for all PreK, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade will be this Thursday, September 4th, from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. We will start in the cafeteria first with a few announcements and data points. From there we will dismiss to classrooms. This is an opportunity to meet the teachers and ask any questions you might have. Teachers will take this opportunity to inform you about their expectations and what you should see your child doing at home and at school. Please come out and meet your child's teacher and help them earn BIZI points.
2. Continued baseline assessments will happen this week. We are trying to complete all IReady, Lexia, STAR CBM, and more this week. We are about to start state testing PM1 soon so finishing baselines is important before that happens.
3. Our first BIZI store of the year will happen on Friday! Student can make their purchases by Wednesday afternoon. Items will be delivered during lunch time to students. Just a reminder that students earn BIZI points for attendance, grades, character, uniforms, and challenges. We want our students to succeed in all areas and we are not afraid to reward them for it either!
4. Attendance is a priority for our school this year. We cannot teach them if they are not here. Last Friday we rewarded 450 students for meeting our attendance goal in August. This month we will reward our students that are present 18 out of the 21 days we are in school for September. We are organizing a "glow in the dark" dance, and we'd love for students to be a part of our "Out of this World" Dance!
5. A few Unit Assessments are taking place this week in Math, and some happened last week. We will hold our first Green party this week by recognizing all students who made the "green". This is our expectation for all students at Rutledge is to be in the green!

This concludes our weekly updates! We hope you all have a wonderful night and a great rest of your weekend! See everyone in the morning!

SAC Meeting tonight at 5:00 pm in the media center.
Good evening RHP families! This is Principal Adkins with your weekly update for the week of August 25th through August 29th. The updates for the week are as followed:

We are heavily monitoring attendance and tardies this school year. On average each day, we have 40-44 students absent each day out of our 754 students. On Fridays we see an increase to 67-70 students absent, This is too many students absent each day and especially on a Friday. On average we are seeing 26 students tardy each day, which means they are missing small group and centers and even core instruction. We are also monitoring our families that check students out early every day so they do not have to wait in our car rider line. If you check students out repeatedly between 1:30 and 2:10 they are missing quality instruction needed, as well as some baseline testing. Please make sure students are at school each day, on time, and stay through dismissal. I promise our car rider line is a lot better than it once was. Students who continuously miss days, are tardy, and are checked out early will receive a meeting request to attend an Attendance Meeting. We are also rewarding our students that were present 13 out of the 15 days we were in school for August on Friday! We are always looking for ways to reward our students.

Baseline testing and STAR CBM will continue this week. In addition to teaching, our teachers have been administering baseline assessments so that they learn more about your student. This week our Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students will participate in STAR CBM Reading. This is another reason we need students at school and on time each day!

Our Kindergarten, 1st grade and 3rd grade will participate in Vision and Hearing Screenings on Thursday. This is a common occurrence for these grade levels. If your child is identified with a vision or hearing deficiency, then you will be notified. Usually, our 3rd graders are identified as needing glasses, and we can assist before they take the final state assessment in May.

We will hold our first SAC and possible PTA meeting on Tuesday at 5:00 pm in the Media Center. We must elect a new SAC president and discuss the bylaws. I know we have a group of parents who are looking into PTA and our next steps. We'd love to have you all there!

For our Car Riders, please make sure your child is picked up no later than 3:15 pm. Our teachers and staff are off the clock at 3:10 pm. We do not have the staff to watch late students. We are looking to charge late fees for students that are left after 3:15pm. Please make sure your child is picked up. We have options in Extended Day and even nearby Daycares. Please look into those alternatives.

We are excited for another week here at RHP!!!! Have a great rest of your weekend!
