Weekly Update for Week of April 21st We hope everyone had a nice 3-day weekend and enjoyed this time with family and friends! We are back for another week and a long haul till the end of May. Our next holiday will be at the end of May for Memorial Day! This week we have some important events happening. For all Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade families, you will see a FAST PM3 STAR letter on Monday. It will go home. It will have your child's individual data listed for PM1, PM2, and their goal for PM3 for both Reading and Math. The goal is a Level 3 or better! For students that make their individual goal for both Reading and Math will participate in our End of Year Field trip Reward in May. This letter will also give you some additional information about testing. Our testing for Kindergarten through 2nd grade will start the week of April 28th. Please encourage your child to do their very best! Progress Reports will go home On Friday, April 25th. We will officially be at the halfway point of the nine weeks. Please look for the Progress report on Friday because it will go home! On Thursday, April 24th we will have our school-wide field trips. Our K-2nd grade will go to the Zoo and our 3rd-5th graders will go to Sea World. There is a criteria that students must meet for the field trips, especially our 3rd-5th grade. Behavior is especially important for that one. On Monday, several letters will go home regarding the field trips. For 3rd-5th, students attending must be at school between 6:15am-6:30am. This is important because we must leave the school by 7:00am. If you are not there on time we will leave without you. Parents who are following the bus, same applies for you. We are asking all 3rd-5th graders attending to wear a yellow shirt. Sea World is a cashless park, however, there will be machines available to convert money into an actual credit card for free. We will return to campus by 5:30pm. For our Kindergarten-2nd graders attending the Zoo, we will leave school when the buses arrive so that will be between 9am-9:30am. You do not want to miss the bus. We are asking our Kindergarten-2nd graders to wear the color gray for that day. If you are planning on chaperone, you must follow the bus. If you are a parent that must attend with your child, we are asking that you meet us at the zoo with your child, this way they will be allowed to attend the trip. Once again, please make sure you check your child's backpack on Monday for important information regarding the trip. We are looking forward to a great week! We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday morning! Have a great rest of your weekend!

Parents, Below is a message from Dr. Bernier, our Superintendent, around potential funding impacts. Please help by reaching out to your local Senator and Congressman about the upcoming vote. Among the many characteristics that distinguish us from other school districts is the strength of our accelerated programs. Duval is a state leader in programs that include Dual Enrollment, Career and Technical Education, Advanced Placement, and the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge AICE diploma programs. We should all be concerned that state legislation is being discussed that could cut the funding for these programs by 50%. Wednesday is a critical committee hearing, and we need our parents and other stakeholders to understand the implications of this issue. Please remember that, while these are primarily high school opportunities, the foundations for our excellence in these programs is established in our elementary and middle schools. That’s why this proposed legislation should be a concern to all of us. Thank you for your assistance as we work to maintain the quality of programs we offer to our students.
