Our 5th graders in Mrs. Peloso's class put their research and presentation skills to work as they shared projects exploring the many ways corn can be used to create different materials and everyday products. 🏫 The 1-mill referendum is a continuation of the millage approved by Duval County voters in 2022. It supports school funding, including teacher pay, as well as arts and athletics.
🏠 Amendment 3 is a proposed change to the Florida Constitution addressing property taxes statewide. The amendment excludes school funding.

Dear San Mateo Elementary Families,
We have had an awesome day of learning today, but I wanted to make you aware of a brief security event that caused a temporary interruption to our school day.
Earlier this afternoon, we placed the school on a temporary lockout status to assist staff in locating a student who had left the classroom without authorization. At all times, students and staff remained safe. The lockout helped ensure that hallways remained clear while staff addressed the situation.
Thankfully, the student was safely located, and we are in direct contact with the student's family regarding the situation. While this caused a minor disruption to our day, I always want to keep you informed whenever security measures are implemented to help maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff.
