Spring Park Elementary

💃🕺🎼 It's Hispanic Heritage Week! Join us in celebrating this special time by participating in the following events throughout this week:
➡️ Monday, Oct 7th: 'Dia de America Latina' - Wear the colors of the Latin America Flag (red, yellow & blue)
➡️ Tuesday, Oct 8th: 'Dia de la Musica Latina' - Music will be played throughout the school day in the hallways and cafeteria
➡️ Wednesday, Oct. 9th: 'Dia de la Bandera' - Wear the colors, or bring a flag, of any Latin/Hispanic county. We will also have a Hispanic Heritage parade.
➡️ Thursday, Oct 10th: 'Dia del Futbol' - Wear your favorite sports jersey. (Did you know that futbol/soccer is the #1 sports in Hispanic countries?
➡️ Friday, Oct 11th: Dia de Vaquero' - Wear your house/team shirt (green, blue, red or black) with a cowboy hats and/or boots.

The following important announcement was made by Duval County Public Schools at 2pm today (Monday, Oct 7th): "In response to the safety threat posed by the storm and the need for shelters, Duval County Public Schools will be closed from Wednesday, Oct. 9 through Friday, Oct. 11. All school activities, including athletics and after school programs, are canceled for those days. After the storm passes and personnel begin recover efforts, the district will make an announcement regarding operations for the follow week."

Tuesday, October 8th: Tomorrow/Tuesday will be a regular school day. Extended Day & Team Up will remain open normal hours tomorrow/Tuesday; however, parents and families are strongly encouraged to pick up their children prior to the close of tomorrow's after-school programs to allow everyone time to prepare for the impact that Hurricane Milton is expected to bring.

Wednesday, October 9th: SCHOOLS CLOSED due to Hurricane Milton.

Thursday October 10th: SCHOOLS CLOSED due to Hurricane Milton.

Friday, October 11th: SCHOOLS CLOSED due to Hurricane Milton.

Mark Your Calendars: School make-up days have already been determined by our school district. Friday, November 1st, was a built-in 'Weather Day' and will now be an school day to make up for the instruction lost due to Hurricane Helene. Friday, February 14th & Friday May 30th were built-in 'Weather Days' and will now be regular school days to make up for the instruction that will be lost due to Hurricane Milton. Friday, October 11th, is the last day of the first grading period.

There is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, October 14th. This is a Planning Day for faculty and staff. School will resume for students on Tuesday, October 15th.

The second grading period begins on Tuesday, October 15th.

Join us this Thursday, October 17th, for our Literacy & Math Olympics event! We will have a variety of literacy and math activities for our PreK-5th Grade students, and their families, to participate in. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Hello Spring Park Families! We (Spring Park Elementary) are hosting our annual "Trunk-Or-Treat" event on Saturday, October 19th, from 2pm-4pm in our school parking lot. This event is sponsored by the Rotaract Club of Jacksonville & other community partners. Everyone is invited to dress in their Halloween costumes. There will be lots of candy for all. We look forward to seeing everyone there. It's going to be a great time!

Hello Spring Park Families! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month Principal Parker is encouraging all students, faculty and staff to wear PINK tomorrow/Friday, October 25th. 🩷

Please see below for the event message from Principal Parker:

"In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month and to honor those who have fought breast cancer or may have lost their lives to this disease, we would like to wear pink this Friday, October 25th. Please join in and wear your pink to show support. Thank you."

October 28th-31st is Red Ribbon Week/Say No To Drugs Week. In celebration of living a healthy lifestyle all Spring Park students, teachers, faculty & staff are encouraged to participate in our themed activities throughout the week:

• Monday/Oct 28th: "Red-y To Say No To Drugs" (wear red)

• Tuesday/Oct 29th: "Team Up Against Drugs" (wear favorite sports jersey or shirt)

• Wednesday/Oct 30th: "Sock It To Drugs" (wear funny or mix-matched socks)

• Thursday/Oct 31st: "Career Day" (dress for the career you want to have when you grow up)

Note: Students are NOT permitted to wear Halloween costumes and/or masks to school on Thursday, October 31st. Students may either dress for Career Day or wear their traditional school uniforms to school on that day.

Hello Spring Park Families! This is a friendly reminder that Wednesday, September 25th, is an Early Release Day for students. Dismissal will begin promptly at 12:50pm today. Only those students enrolled in an after school program (Extended Day or Team Up) will be permitted to stay at school after 1:00pm on Early Release Days. The Extended Day & Team Up programs will take place from 1:00pm-6:00pm on Early Release Days. Thank you to all of our Spring Park families for helping to make sure that your students are picked up on time.
