Tomorrow is our first School Advisory Council (SAC) Meeting of the school year held by the principal and SAC Members. Our primary focus ensures that school improvement efforts are collaborative, data-driven, and aligned with student achievement goals.

We are starting week 3 and settling into our new space. Thank you for honoring our new policy in the morning with staying in the car rider line to ensure student safety. Safety continues to be our top priority!
Breakfast for 2nd-4th Graders is from 8:30 AM-8:55 AM with the line closing at 8:55 AM. For students in 2nd-4th grade, please try to drop all Car Rider students off by 8:45 AM to ensure that they have enough time to eat in the mornings. School starts promptly at 9 AM.

We made it through week 1 at our new location. We are continuing to adjust procedures as needed. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support during this transition. Effective tomorrow, August 17th, we have updated the morning drop off procedures.
This change is being made to address safety concerns, particularly with crossing the street without a crossing guard, and to help minimize the use of the church parking lot. We appreciate your partnership as we make this transition. 💙
⏰ Morning Drop-Off Time: 8:30–8:59 AM
🚨 The car rider line will close promptly at 9:00 AM.
AM Car Rider Procedures:
• 🚗 Please stay in your car.
• ➡️ Join the end of the car rider line for drop-off.
• 🚶♀️ We will not allow families or students to walk up the sidewalk to the front gate for morning drop-off.
• 🏫 If you need to visit the Front Office, you may park and enter through the gate to conduct your business.
• ⏰ Students arriving after 9:00 AM must be walked into the Front Office to receive a tardy slip.
Thank you for your understanding, patience, and cooperation as we implement this new procedure. Our goal is to ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient arrival for all of our students and families. 💙🌱

*Tuesday, Aug 18: Red Tuesday Folders Come Home. Tuesday Folders are sent weekly with flyers and information from the school. Tuesday Folders are to be signed and returned on Wednesday.
Be sure to download the DCPS App. You will have access to Focus (make sure your Parent Focus is linked to your student) and PikMyKid (log-in is the same as Focus Parent Acct Log in). PikMyKid is used for announcing students through car riders and extended day. You can also track when buses have dismissed from the school. If you need help with any of these systems, please visit the front office for assistance.

Tomorrow is the day we get to welcome all of our wonderful students back! We are so excited to begin a new school year together. Although we are in a different location, we are still the same Venetia Family! Our staff has worked tirelessly to ensure our school is ready for Day 1 of learning.

🌱 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL REMINDERS
* Doors open at 8:30 AM. School begins promptly at 9:00 AM, and the first bell rings at 8:55 AM.
* Families may walk students to their classroom or holding area on Day 1 only.
*Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Students will report directly to their classrooms when they arrive.
*2nd–4th Grade: Students will report to the cafeteria.
*5th Grade: Students will report to the Media Center.
*A-B-Cs of Dismissal: This school year, dismissal options are Afterschool Care (Extended Day), Bus Riders, and Car Riders only. There will be no walkers or bike riders.
*Car Line: Just like at our previous location, families may not park and walk up. Please remain in your vehicle while going through the car line.
*Car Riders: Please join the end of the car line on Dayton Road. Do not cut into the line from Lane Avenue. We will work as quickly and efficiently as possible to keep the line moving. Please be patient and give us grace as we navigate our new location together.

We are about one week away from our Meet & Greet. We are currently scheduling students each day. All schedules should be finalized by Tuesday, August 4th. We are having people register every day and working diligently to register and schedule students. Bus Schedules are starting to be available in Focus.

A smooth dismissal starts with knowing your child's dismissal plan! Please review our **ABCs of Dismissal**:
🅰️ **A – Afterschool Care (Extended Day)**
Students attending Extended Day **must be registered** prior to participating. Download the PikMyKid App for announcing students in Extended Day.
🅱️ **B – Bus Transportation**
Students assigned to bus transportation will be dismissed to their designated bus each afternoon. You can view on PikMyKid when they are dismissed from the school.
🅲 **C – Car Riders**
Car riders will be dismissed through our car line. Please have your car rider tag visible (with three digit number from PikMyKid) and be patient as we work to ensure every child is dismissed safely. You will join the end of the line on Dayton Street. DO NOT cut in line when turning from Lane Ave. Download the PikMyKid App for announcing students in Car Riders.
🚨 **Important Reminders:**
• Please make sure your child's dismissal method is consistent.
• If a dismissal change is necessary, notify in writing in the agenda or via PikMyKid. The school's designated cutoff time is 2 PM in PikMyKid.
• Our goal is a safe, efficient, and orderly dismissal for every student.
